Barcelona Academy or BA is a non-sectarian educational institution committed to receive, celebrate, and share the fullness of life through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Founded and established in 2010, BA has already become a byword for Life-Learning educational excellence and character formation through innovative, transformative, practical and fun Life-Learning Programs. These include recognizing weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end achievements such as the Good Deed Awards, the English Speaker Award, Penmanship Award, Values of the Month Award, alongside the regular academic awards. Special programs include the Special Study Program (SSP), the Special Reading Program (SRP) and Bible Reading Program (BRP), and the Life Enrichment Action Program (LEAP) in Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Acting/Theater, Drum and Lyre), in Sports (Basketball, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, and Gymnastics), and in Foreign Languages (Japanese, Chinese). The visionary-founder, teacher-educator-artist, and renowned lay preacher, Bro. Alvin Barcelona, has been a recognized name for over three decades now in the fields of education, arts and culture, national and international public speaking, in multi-media (TV, radio, and print), and in Christian Evangelization and Values Formation to church communities, in the corporate world, and in government and public service as a former World Bank Consultant for the Integrity Management Program under the Office of the President. BA is the third school primarily owned and managed by Bro. Alvin and wife, Marites Barcelona, the school's Directress-Principal. "Ma'am Tes" has been a long time teacher and school administrator. She earned her Diploma in Teaching, Major in Preschool from the Philippine Normal University. She received her Certificate in TESOL/ESL from the American Language Institute. She finished her Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education with the highest honors as Summa Cum Laude. She is soon to finish her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Management. Her burning passion, diligence and hard work is what boost BA to continuously pursue excellence.

 

The other two schools, Power Kids Academy are located at Heritage Homes and Sta. Rosa, Marilao, Bulacan. These schools have been operating for about two decades now offering preschool and grade school courses. They follow the same innovative educational systems and life-learning programs under the BA System, producing equally commendable achievements, especially in the Reading Program that proclaims, "Your 3-year old kids will read in 3 months!"

 

BA Metrogate, located at Lias, Marilao, Bulacan, is the flagship of the BA school systems. In addition to the 4-storey building with 35 classrooms in a close to 1-hectare lot, immediate renovations and improvement have been done to the former school acquired in 2010.  The school now boasts of a covered multi-purpose gym with a stage and covered badminton and basketball courts, open basketball and volleyball courts, separate playgrounds for preschool and primary pupils, Senior High School lounge, canteen, parking area, parents waiting area, garden study and recreation area, chapel, and separate offices for Administration, Principal's Office, Academic Offices / Faculty Rooms, Registrar and Finance, Guidance and Discipline, Student Affairs, Sports, CAT, and for the CFA (Catholic Filipino Academy / Homeschool Program). Through the years BA has never stopped improving its basic facilities and services such as the library, laboratory, computer rooms, restrooms, AVR, clinic, dance and music room, game room, school service coasters, etc. to keep up with the school's standards and systems.

 

Official Recognition from the Department of Education was immediately granted for all the Basic Education Courses in Preschool and Grade School with Recognition Nos. E-007, s. 2011 and for High School with Recognition Nos. S-018, s. 2011.

 

 

 

 

BA has victoriously joined the rosters of schools offering the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) Program of the Department of Education. Having passed this certification and having complied with DepEd standards for recognition, BA is therefore nationally recognized as a private junior high school that is able to provide quality education. Thus, incoming Grade 7 junior high school students may avail of the ESC grant, after the application and screening process. They are also automatically granted the Senior High School Voucher after completing Grade 10.

 

BA's booming Senior High School Course offers Academic Tracks or strands in Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with Permit Nos. SHSP 288 s. 2015, Arts and Design with Permit Nos. SHSP 007 s. 2017, and in Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) with Permit Nos. SHSP Nos. 009 s. 2018.  BA's Senior High School takes pride in its innovative and exciting immersion programs that give our senior Life-Learners hands-on experiences and exposure to business establishments, to radio and TV networks, to top government departments such as the Senate of the Philippines, and even abroad.

 

BA is the first, and so far the only, DepEd recognized Home School Provider in all of Bulacan, as partnered with The Catholic Filipino Academy, owned by renowned Catholic Lay Preacher, Bro. Bo Sanchez.

 

BA has been marked by a continuing phenomenal growth in the number of enrollees every year. Academic achievements have been highlighted by BA graduates successfully making it to the top universities in the country such as Ateneo de Manila, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, University of Sto. Tomas, St. Scholastica, MAPUA, and Bulacan State University, among others.

 

BA has swiftly found her place in the community of schools hosting the BULPRISA (Bulacan Private Schools Association) Meet for two consecutive years (2012 and 2103), and has since been winning medals and trophies in all the categories of academic, cultural and sports competitions. BA is also a member of APRISM (Association of Private Schools of Marilao), hosting again its annual meets, and adding more opportunities for our Life-Learners to gain more achievements. Many Life-Learners have in fact become national and international achievers in academics (as scholars and exchange students), in performing arts (in television and film), in sports winning medals up to the "Palarong Pambansa", and in various international competitions. Our Life-Learners/Artists have become favorite performers in huge events staged at renowned venues such as Philippine International Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Aliw Theater, etc.
